JAMES TAILOR

I have always been interested in pushing mediums, using the tradition of painting as a foundation. take various approaches, making paint sheets that are transparent, colored, pleated, cast, three-dimensional busts and wearable garments from it. Categorizing my practice has been restrictive, so this is something I try not to do. This freedom has led to the combination of painting, sculpture, performance and installation together to communicate my ideas.  Emotion has become a strong presence in my practice and the driving force behind my most recent body of work ‘Held my hand’ after a personal loss in my family.
